Kavi Nripasha

Poems in plain, spoken Hindi about a mother's patience, the salt of growing up, fear and courage, and a world that is always quick to laugh.

For every tear of mine, she lets fall four.

About the poet

(Nripasha) is the pen name of Dhruvaditya Srivastava, a Hindi poet who writes in plain, spoken Hindi about the questions people usually carry in silence.

His poems move between the personal and the public. A son tries to understand where his mother's strength comes from. A man misses the smell of rain on dry soil and the afternoons when there was time to waste. A citizen watches the truth get shouted down and asks how long it must wait its turn.

He returns often to the epics: Arjun before the battle, Ram's restraint set against Ravan's rage, Sita and Radha judged by a jeering world. In his hands they become ways of asking how an ordinary person should act today.

Alongside poetry, he is now writing novels, short stories and songs. Contact him for more details.

In each of us there is one, perhaps a frightened Arjun, before the battle.

Nishtha

A thousand attempts were made, and it was devotion alone that brought hope into life.

Twenty new poems on the questions we usually leave unspoken: the story of defeat that no one tells, the long silence between people who love each other, the identity we inherit from father, teacher and mother, the loneliness of fame, and the nameless soldier of the common man.

Poems include

Edited by Dr. Nripendra Kumar Srivastava.
Dedicated to all the women of the world, who create life and the future of humanity.
